It has been my distinct pleasure to collaborate on this body of work with my new friend Carl Lopes. When I first saw his work, I immediately felt the connections we share on many levels. First is the music. We are both inspired by the music that has its origins in Africa and has evolved as part of so many musical genres and traditions. Our imagery is inspired by the culture and traditions of Africa, and we both are drawing from the same deep well of powerful and spiritual humanity. With our collaborative and individual work, Carl and I seek to honor the heritage of what the African culture has given to our collective community. Our many discussions over the past months have clarified our vision and brought our art to a higher level. Our shared vision has culminated in our exhibition at the Sandwich Glass Museum which runs from June 21 to November 2, 2024. We are both very excited to see our efforts come to fruition and to share our vision with the public.
